In the fourteen runs they have won it 8 times, while Sheik Mohammad’s Godolphin operation have landed the main race on five occasions – most recently in 2006 with the classy Electrocutionist, who won despite having a bad draw.
US jockey Jerry Bailey is the most successful pilot in the history of the race, having landed the prize four times, while Frankie Dettori has been in the winners’ enclosure three times. Looking at the winner’s age it’s the 4 year-old that have fared best, landing eight of the 14 runnings.
